Bean 'Fortex'
Phaseolus vulgaris
Gold-standard French green bean! With superior flavor, tender texture at any length, and a completely stringless nature, it's hard to believe this variety is also early maturing and extremely productive. Developed in France, the beans can be harvested at 7” for extra-slender haricots verts, but they’re delicious at any size.
The only green bean you'll ever need, this is our top favorite on the farm! Plus, you can feel extra fancy when you tell everyone that tonight’s menu includes haricots verts à la Française from your kitchen garden.
Pole bean; requires trellising. One of my favorite memories from our wedding reception was guests picking and eating raw Fortex beans from our vegetable arch :)
If you are looking for a delicious bush bean, try Fin de Bagnols. The only downfall is that if it's not picked young it gets stringy.
