Cilantro 'Cruiser'
Coriandrum sativum
Fresh-cut garden cilantro is unparalleled in flavor and fragrance compared to its supermarket counterpart. Cruiser is an open-pollinated variety selected for excellent bolt resistance. Large leaves and sturdy stems make it an ideal bunching variety. Believed to have originated in the Mediterranean region, cilantro has been cultivated for culinary, medicinal, and/or ritualistic purposes since as early as 2,000 BCE.
An interesting aspect of cilantro is that its flavor is polarizing—some people love it, while others hate it, finding it soapy and unpleasant. This difference in taste is actually believed to be genetic, which is wild. But it ain't me, babe, I adore it!
