Statice 'Russian Statice'
Limonium suworowii
Also known as Rat Tail and Pink Pokers, a small planting of this wild statice will produce an abundant crop, we love it! Whimsical stems bloom over a long period (2–3 flushes) and add so much movement to bouquets and arrangements. Just like L. sinuatum types, this statice is easy to dry and holds color well.
Statice is incredibly productive and long lasting, whether used fresh or dried. Due to it's papery texture and color retention, is known as one of the best dried flowers, used since the Victorian era. The genus was named by the Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus in the 18th century. The name "Limonium" is derived from the Greek word "leimon," meaning "meadow," referencing its native habitat. Statice is associated with memories, sympathy, and lasting love.
